SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE
The Landscape Maintenance Foreman/Supervisor is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and coordinating the daily activities of landscape maintenance crews. This position oversees the installation and maintenance of lawns, ornamental trees, shrubs, flowers, and other landscape features while ensuring all work is completed according to company standards, customer expectations, and contract specifications. The Foreman/Supervisor provides hands-on leadership in the field and actively participates in all landscape maintenance duties alongside crew members.
JOB FUNCTIONS
Receive work priorities from the Account Manager and assign daily tasks to crew members to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
Supervise and participate in all landscape maintenance activities, including mowing, edging, pruning, weeding, planting, mulching, irrigation, fertilization, turf maintenance, and seasonal landscape enhancements.
Coordinate daily work schedules and monitor crew performance to ensure quality standards, productivity goals, and contract requirements are met.
Conduct pre-service and post-service inspections of job sites and address any deficiencies or customer concerns.
Identify and report pest infestations, plant diseases, turf issues, irrigation problems, and other landscape maintenance concerns to the Account Manager.
Perform basic irrigation duties, including inspecting systems, adjusting irrigation clocks, troubleshooting issues, and completing minor repairs as needed.
Provide leadership, training, and on-the-job coaching to crew members regarding safety procedures, equipment operation, and proper landscape maintenance practices.
Ensure compliance with all company safety policies, environmental regulations, and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Operate and maintain landscape equipment, tools, vehicles, and machinery, and perform routine inspections and minor maintenance as needed.
Complete work orders, vehicle and equipment inspection reports, inventory counts, and employee timekeeping records accurately and in a timely manner.
Track and maintain inventory of equipment, tools, materials, and chemicals, reporting shortages or maintenance needs as necessary.
Maintain positive customer relationships by providing professional communication, addressing concerns, and delivering exceptional service.
Assist with fertilizer, herbicide, and pesticide applications in accordance with company policies and applicable regulations.
Ensure job sites remain clean, safe, and organized by removing debris, maintaining landscape areas, and promoting a professional appearance.
Perform all other duties assigned in support of landscape maintenance operations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position primarily works outdoors and is regularly exposed to varying weather conditions, including heat, humidity, rain, cold temperatures, and direct sunlight. Landscape maintenance work is physically demanding and often involves repetitive motions throughout the workday.
The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, bend, crouch, stoop, kneel, reach, climb, and perform manual labor for extended periods. The position requires frequent use of hand tools, power equipment, and machinery associated with landscape maintenance operations.
The employee must regularly lift, carry, push, and/or pull materials, equipment, and supplies weighing up to 80 pounds. The position may also require loading and unloading equipment, shoveling, digging, moving landscaping materials, and performing other strenuous physical activities.
The employee may be exposed to noise, dust, dirt, chemicals, fertilizers, pesticides, moving machinery, and other conditions commonly associated with landscape maintenance and groundskeeping operations. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn and safety procedures followed at all times.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a landscape maintenance supervisory or working foreman role required.
Demonstrated experience leading, training, and supervising landscape maintenance crews.
Strong working knowledge of landscape maintenance practices, turf care, irrigation systems, pruning techniques, and plant health.
Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and foster positive working relationships.
Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred, but not required.
Strong commitment to quality workmanship, customer satisfaction, and achieving operational goals.
Ability to provide high-quality landscape maintenance services and maintain strong follow-up and customer service practices.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Must be dependable, self-motivated, and possess a strong work ethic.
Working knowledge of landscape maintenance equipment, tools, and machinery, including their safe operation and basic maintenance.
Ability to work outdoors in changing weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks.
Ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions.
Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
REQUIRED LICENSES / HOURS OF WORK
Valid driver's license and clean driving record a plus.
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday weekends as needed only , 40 hours per work week. Start and end times vary.
