In this position, you will join our Manufacturing Operations Organization within our Aeronautics Systems sector as an Aircraft Structures Mechanic Entry Level supporting our Clearfield, UT site. This role works on major assembly structures such as fuselage panels and bulkheads, and structural subassemblies such as rudders, flaps, and stabilizers. Were seeking a hands-on professional with exceptional attention to detail, a strong commitment to quality, and outstanding interpersonal skills.
This position may be filled at varying shift times including weekdays, nights, and weekends (shift differential paid during eligible shifts).
Please note: Only external candidates and NG employees who are not currently Aircraft Structures Mechanics at the Clearfield site will be considered under this requisition.
Essential Functions:
- Read and understand blueprints
- Translate blueprints into fabrications of structural assemblies to include precision drilling, countersinking, and the use of calibrated tools
- Aligning parts on jigs using templates and fixtures
- Performing part-fitting operations such as filing, sawing, burring, crimping, trimming, framing, riveting, drilling, and reaming
- Measuring parts with precision tools such as micrometers and calipers to verify dimensions
- May modify incomplete and complete assemblies to incorporate changes to structure and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedure
- Daily usage of manufacturing shop controls and systems
- Use of appropriate PPE when working on the shop floor
- Recommend and implement continuous improvement activities in production methods, equipment performance, and team effectiveness
Basic Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- This position requires the ability to perform moderate strenuous physical and repetitious work to include: bending, stooping, kneeling, carrying tools, lifting up to 35 pounds, working overhead or at heights, and accessing small, confined spaces
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret level clearance and Special Program Access within a reasonable period, as defined by the company to meet its business needs. U.S. Citizenship required for clearance.
- Must successfully complete and pass the ASTAR New Hire Training / Compliance within a reasonable time period, as defined by the company to meet its business need
- Ability to work flexible, changing shifts, including weekends
Preferred Qualifications:
- Current/active U.S. Government Secret level clearance
- Experience in aerospace manufacturing
- Demonstrated ability using standard measuring equipment and power hand tools
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, assembly drawings, process specifications, technical manuals, written instructions, test procedures, blueprints, etc.
