Job Details

Job Summary:

Responsible for performing preventative maintenance, special inspections and general repairs on light duty, medium duty and heavy duty trucks in accordance with DOT, federal and state regulations and company standards. Determines the overall mechanical condition of Trucks, High rail Systems, on-board mounted cranes and associated equipment, diagnoses component malfunctions and initiates repair actions. Repairs components by replacing worn or damaged parts with new or reconditioned parts. Corrects vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub- assemblies, components, parts, or systems, such as, brakes, hubs, bearings, seals, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, steering, hydraulics; control linkages, clutches, and traction units. Uses technical publications or automated systems in maintaining vehicles to prescribed manufacturers’ maintenance schedules and for researching parts. Properly annotates all maintenance and labor performed in maintenance management software.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues in vehicles, including engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension systems, Highrail Systems and light duty cranes
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections
  • Install and replace parts, such as belts, filters, spark plugs, and batteries
  • Conduct vehicle inspections, Highrail Inspections, Crane Annual Inspections and provide recommendations for repairs or replacements
  • Troubleshoot electrical systems, including lights, batteries, and ignition
  • Troubleshoot Hydraulic Systems
  • Troubleshoot Highrail Systems
  • Keep accurate records of repairs, parts, and maintenance
  • Stay current with automotive technology and repair techniques
  • Adheres to all established safety (OSHA) and environmental policies and standards to include identification, use, and proper procedures for handling or disposal of hazardous waste.
  • Clean, organize and maintain the work environment to ensure equipment longevity and workplace safety
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned

Requirements

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of vehicle systems, including engines, transmissions, electrical, and HVAC
  • Proficiency with diagnostic tools and repair equipment
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Minimum of [2] years of experience in automotive repair

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent vocational school required
  • At least 2 year's related experience required.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

  • This is a full-time position, and days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, Hours depend on location.

  • Able to fit into a 20” cargo trailer dome opening.
  • Able to meet safety standards for fall protection harness – max weight 310 lbs. (includes all PPE worn)

  • Stand for long periods of time.
  • Walk for long periods of time.
  • Bend or twist their body.
  • See differences between colors, shades, and brightness.
