We are seeking a full-time Kitchen Equipment Mechanic to join our team. This position will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance, predictive maintenance, reactive maintenance, minor repairs and modifications to commercial cooking, refrigeration and cookware washing equipment to ensure proper operation and compliance with all applicable regulations and the required event schedule.
- Performs daily scheduled maintenance, documents and completes all preventive maintenance on all portable and fixed kitchen equipment (walk-ins, freezers, refrigerators, carbonation equipment, gas grills, flat tops, hoods, ice machines, etc. to ensure proper working condition.
- Performs preventative, reactive and predictive maintenance schedules on manufactured gas distribution lines, pumps, valves, belts, and Glycol cooling equipment.
- Uses diagnostic skills on operation, maintenance, and repair of refrigerant compressors, refrigerant lines, brines or other secondary refrigerating liquids together with all valves and appurtenances in the system,
- Inspects kitchen equipment and related system components according to facility and manufacturers recommendations to verify system compliance with plans and specifications and to detect malfunctions in those system component parts.
- Utilizes Computer based Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) for tracking any repairs to all kitchen equipment and systems.
- Performs maintenance and troubleshooting of the commercial cooking systems, refrigeration, and motors to gas lines, pumps, belts, etc.
- Works between Arena Operating and Levy employees and management to minimize down time, reduce operational expenses and to ensure the success of all events.
- Assists with work performed by outside contractors, inspects and verifies the work upon completion.
- Verifies system compliance with plans and specifications to detect malfunctions in those system component parts.
- Assists in the implementation of a preventative maintenance plan for the kitchen equipment in the Arena.
- Assists in budgeting process for yearly Capex budget for kitchen equipment upgrades.
- Installs new kitchen equipment including coordination, setup, and commissioning as required.
- Performs repairs or replacements on drains, water lines, valves, and related plumbing or electrical systems as needed to maintain proper operation of kitchen equipment.
- Support events and works evenings and weekends as needed to meet operational demands.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education / Qualifications:
- High School diploma or a general education degree required,
- 3+ years experience with commercial refrigeration,
- 5+ years experience with commercial cooking equipment,
- Above work experience preferred in an arena, hotel or restaurant environment;
- Ability to read blue prints, drawings, specifications and schematics,
- Provable knowledge and experience in troubleshooting and repair of commercial kitchen equipment.
- EPA certification required
- Knowledge of tools and equipment necessary to perform repairs on concession/kitchen equipment.
- Knowledge of principles, practices and techniques of gas and refrigerant trade
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills
Physical Demands / Work Environment:
- Ability to stand, kneel, walk, sit, use of hands to handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms.
- Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods of time.
- Regularly lifts, carries, pushes and pulls equipment, tools, parts, and materials weighing up to 50 pounds; occasionally moves heavier items with assistance or mechanical aids.
- Works in confined spaces and awkward positions while inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining equipment.
- Must be able to lift and/ or move up to 50 pounds;
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.
- Must be able to hear equipment operation and identify unusual sounds or malfunctions.
- Ability to work around energized electrical gas, plumbing, and refrigeration systems while following safety protocols.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, however, during events, the noise level may be loud.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights, evenings, weekends and holidays as needed.
- Position requires employee to be on call as needed.
