Facilities Maintenance Technician Job Description Join a large manufacturing campus as a Facilities Maintenance Technician responsible for maintaining building systems, equipment, and grounds across a 200,000 square foot, four-building facility. You will perform a wide range of mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and general maintenance tasks while supporting a safe, efficient, and comfortable environment for employees and visitors. Responsibilities Perform routine inspection, maintenance, and repair of eight rooftop HVAC units, including filter changes, belt replacements, and work on heat pumps. Execute daily, weekly, and monthly preventative maintenance tasks according to a defined schedule and complete associated work orders accurately and on time. Troubleshoot and repair HVAC systems, including diagnosing issues with rooftop units, boilers, and related components. Handle minor plumbing tasks such as clearing drains and sinks, addressing minor leaks, and ensuring proper operation of plumbing fixtures. Perform general building maintenance, including patching and painting walls, changing lightbulbs, and replacing soap dispenser batteries. Assist with electrical work such as wiring pumps and motors, replacing fixtures, and supporting basic electrical troubleshooting within the facility. Support boiler operations for low-pressure systems by performing routine checks and assisting with maintenance under the guidance of experienced staff. Carry out light groundskeeping duties, including shoveling sidewalks, clearing debris, and maintaining clean and safe exterior areas. Document all maintenance activities in work order systems, including descriptions of issues, actions taken, and parts used. Communicate effectively with internal customers, vendors, and the maintenance team to coordinate repairs, schedule service, and provide status updates. Respond to maintenance requests in a timely, customer-focused manner and help minimize downtime for production and office operations. Participate in an on-call rotation after full integration into the team, responding to after-hours maintenance needs as required. Follow all safety procedures, use appropriate personal protective equipment, and help maintain a safe working environment throughout the campus. Essential Skills Demonstrated experience in facilities maintenance with exposure to plumbing, HVAC, boilers, electrical work, and painting. Hands-on experience performing preventative maintenance on building systems and equipment. Experience with HVAC troubleshooting and filter changes (preferred). Ability to work with rooftop units (RTUs), including basic repair and maintenance tasks. Practical knowledge of minor plumbing repairs such as clearing drains and sinks. Basic electrical skills, including wiring pumps and motors and replacing electrical fixtures. Experience with general building maintenance tasks such as patching, painting, and changing lightbulbs. Ability to perform basic troubleshooting on mechanical, electrical, and building systems. Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly with internal stakeholders and vendors. High School Diploma or GED. Ability to follow preventative maintenance schedules and accurately document work orders. Capability to perform light groundskeeping tasks and work safely in various indoor and outdoor conditions. Additional Skills & Qualifications Boiler license or EPA certification (nice to have). Interest in obtaining or upgrading a boilers license with company-supported training. Comfort working with both newer and older facility equipment and systems. Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation after initial training. Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and well-functioning facility. Ability to collaborate with an experienced maintenance team and learn from technicians. Work Environment This role is based on a large, 200,000 square foot manufacturing campus consisting of four buildings and two floors, housing production, office, and executive functions. You will work Monday through Friday on a daytime schedule, typically 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with an on-call rotation introduced once you are fully integrated into the team. The facility includes a mix of newer and older equipment and infrastructure, as well as low-pressure boilers and multiple rooftop HVAC units. You will move between different areas of the campus, working both indoors and outdoors as needed, including in mechanical rooms, production-adjacent spaces, and exterior grounds. The environment is fast-paced and collaborative, with approximately 500 employees across production and office operations, and relies on coordinated communication with vendors and internal departments to keep systems running smoothly. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Shoreview, MN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $26.44 - $31.25/hr.
