Additionally, the employeeperforms skilled maintenance work on kitchenequipment, cameras, intercoms, electronic doors and locks, as well asgeneral cleaning and facility maintenance work. Theprincipal duties are performed in a detention facility with exposure toinmates and may include working in enclosed spaces,on rooftops, in crawl spaces, and in adverse weather conditions andhazards involving the use of power tools andequipment. The work is performed under the supervision of a LeadMaintenance Mechanic.Duties / ResponsibilitiesESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (illustrative only and may vary byassignment)Performs maintenance and repair work on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, firecontrol, mechanical, structural andelectronic systems;Repairs and maintains furniture and building fixtures;Maintains work orders, maintenance, and inspection records;Maintains and repairs tools and equipment;Performs general cleaning and building maintenance duties;Responds to Commissioners\', elected officials\', County employees\' andcitizens\' questions and comments in acourteous and timely manner;Performs time management and scheduling functions, meets deadlines, andsets project priorities;Communicates and coordinates regularly with appropriate co-workers tomaximize the effectiveness and efficiency ofinterdepartmental operations and activities.Maintains strict confidentiality in all cases;Assists other department and County employees as needed or requested.5/5/25, 11:51 AM Job Bulletin all work duties and activities in accordance with Countypolicies, procedures, and safety practices.SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Performs other duties as assigned.QualificationsCLASSIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:The requirements listed below are representative of the minimumknowledge, skill, and/or ability required for an individualto satisfactorily perform each essential duty satisfactorily and besuccessful in the position.Knowledge of:Building trade skills, including but not limited to, electrical,plumbing, carpentry, mechanical, and electronic systemsand controls;Methods, materials, tools and standard practices for buildingmaintenance, repair, and remodeling;State, local, and other applicable building, safety, and health codesand regulations;Federal (OSHA) regulations and County policies regarding safe workpractices relating to use of heavy equipment,power tools, ladders and power lifts, and repair and maintenancematerials.Skill and Ability to:Read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and diagrams;Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC systems, including but notlimited to, heating, cooling, boiler, andthermostat/control systems;Install, troubleshoot, and repair electrical, plumbing, mechanical, andrelated operating systems;Work on multiple projects, set priorities, and allocate resources forproject completion;Operate power equipment;Operate hand tools;Operate a personal computer, including programs and applicationsrelating to HVAC mainte nance;Operate a motor vehicle;Speak clearly and communicate accurate information to others;Use English to communicate effectively with others;Listen carefully to, understand, and effectively communicate throughoral, written, and interpersonal communicationchannels;Follow verbal and written instructions;Work independently and exercise initiative, with general guidance andsupervision;Use good judgment to make sound and reasonable decisions andproblem-solving skills to respond to customerservice needs in accordance with laws, ordinances, regulations andestablished policies;Maintain a professional demeanor at all times;Perform a wide variety of duties and responsibilities with accuracy andspeed under the pressure of time-sensitivedeadlines;Demonstrate integrity and ingenuity in the performance of assigned tasksand solving problems;Perform all duties in accordance with County policies and procedureswith regard for personal safety and
