Maintenance Mechanic

Rapid Deployable Systems is seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Mechanic to oversee and perform regular maintenance on production equipment, including sewing machines (single needle, double needle, long arm, etc.), KABAR Welders, Material Spreaders, and other machinery used in the manufacturing of tents and structures for both military and commercial applications. This role will develop and execute maintenance schedules, manage building and grounds upkeep, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will have a broad technical skill set and the ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.Responsibilities:This role will contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment as the RDS team continues to grow.Equipment Maintenance:Develop and execute regular, documented maintenance schedules for all production equipment, including sewing machines, welders, material spreaders, and more. Identify and address needs for adjustments, overhauls, repairs, or replacement of machinery to ensure optimal functionality and minimal downtime.Building and Grounds Maintenance:Implement and maintain routine maintenance schedules for the building and grounds, ensuring cleanliness, safety, and operational efficiency.Vendor & Contractor Relations:Build and maintain relationships with equipment vendors and outside contractors to ensure timely repairs and replacements, and ensure all work is compliant with local and state building codes, as well as OSHA standards.Repair Expertise:Utilize working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and HVAC systems to complete basic repairs when necessary. Troubleshoot and repair pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and air compressor systems to ensure the continuous operation of production equipment.Regulatory Compliance & Safety:Ensure facilities meet all government regulations and environmental, health, and security standards. Actively promote and enforce company safety policies, workmanship standards, and operational procedures.Documentation & Reporting:Maintain thorough records of all equipment maintenance, repairs, and replacements, and provide reports to management as needed. Work with Microsoft Office Suite and maintenance-related applications to organize maintenance activities.QualificationsMinimum of 3 years of experience in maintenance within a manufacturing environment, including HVAC, electrical, and production equipment repair and maintenance.Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with pneumatics, hydraulics, electrical systems, and air compressor systems.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and maintenance-related computer systems or equivalent applications.High mechanical aptitude with the ability to read and interpret schematics and technical manuals.Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills to quickly assess and address mechanical issues.Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external contractors.Strong organizational and planning skills to maintain the upkeep, safety, and efficiency of equipment and facilities.Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.Strong quality consciousness and attention to detail.Familiarity with OSHA regulations and adherence to safety protocols.Must be able to work independently, with minimal supervision, while contributing to team goals.Physical Requirements:Ability to lift and move heavy objects, perform physical labor, and work in various conditions, including outdoors and in manufacturing environments.Must be able to work on machinery, in tight spaces, and at various heights.This position reports directly to the Operations Manager.
