The Preventative Maintenance Technician position ensures the continued reliability and functionality of our physical security infrastructure, as well as monitoring all facets of Access Control. Provides maintenance and support of technology and access-related equipment. Ensures campus doors and electronic access control system hardware are maintained properly. Performs preventative maintenance tasks on electronic locking systems and doors and hardware to reduce premature equipment failures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Must conduct regular inspections of security systems, including bollards, gates, garage doors, and vehicle wedges, to identify wear, damage, or potential issues.
The ability to perform scheduled maintenance tasks on security equipment to ensure optimal functionality and longevity.
Must be able to take direction from the Access Control Supervisor.
The ability to work closely with other maintenance technicians and security personnel to address urgent work orders.
Responsible for completing all work that's assigned.
Must be able to use hand and power tools applicable to trade.
Ability to troubleshoot and repair door hardware.
Promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
Provides quality customer service.
Must be willing to go through extensive training on cutting keys and pinning/installing cores.
Responsible for basic maintenance of handicap operators and openings.
Follows all safety policies and procedures and makes sure proper safety equipment is used when needed.
Possess public communication skills that allow professional representation of Liberty University to a variety of business and community customers and associates.
QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS
High school diploma or GED. Certifications obtained while employed by Liberty University at the expense of the employer will be reimbursed back to the University upon voluntary termination (resignation) for the first 12 months after acquiring it. Must be detail-oriented, possess strong organizational skills, and well-developed communication skills.
Effective communication both verbally and in writing. Ability to intuitively reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment in order to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature. Excellent organizational skills. Regularly lift 50+ pounds. Proof of a valid Virginia driver's license, an acceptable DMV record, and liability insurance is required.
