Basic Job Functions: The role of the conveyor maintenance mechanic is to meet and exceed all safety and housekeeping expectations for the area. This includes but is not limited to safe maintenance and operations of conveyer systems, material chutes, vibratory feeders, storage bins and silos. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the continuous and efficient operation of material handling processes that is critical to the operation of the steel melting and refining process. The teammate in this role will interface with the production and electrical departments. They are responsible for working to continuously improve equipment and systems to maintain reliability. This role will interface with vendors and part suppliers for all mechanical equipment related material conveying systems.
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:
At least 2 years experience working in maintenance with mechanical troubleshooting.
At least 2 years experience working with conveyor systems in a heavy industrial environment
Preferred Qualifications:
Performing routine inspections and preventive maintenance on conveyor systems to identify and address issues before they lead to breakdowns or safety concerns.
Diagnosing and repair conveyor belt problems, including belt replacements, splicing, and the replacement of damaged or worn components
Adjust and maintain conveyor belt alignment and tracking to prevent issues like belt wandering or misalignment
Diagnosing and repair of other material handling equipment including rotary chutes, vibratory feeders, storage silos and bins.
Basic understanding of how automated process systems interface with production equipment
Welding/fabrication experience
