The Building Maintenance Worker performs a variety of semi-skilled tasks in the maintenance and repair of university buildings, facilities, and equipment. This role supports the upkeep of a safe, functional, and comfortable campus environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, HVAC, and general building systems.
• Conduct regular inspections of assigned buildings to identify and report maintenance issues.
• Respond to work orders in a timely and professional manner using the university's maintenance management system.
• Assemble furniture, repair doors and locks, change light bulbs, and perform other basic facility maintenance tasks.
• Assist with event setups, office moves, and seasonal tasks such as snow removal or grounds clean-up.
• Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition and follow safety guidelines.
• Collaborate with contractors and other university personnel on larger maintenance projects.
• Keep accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time spent on tasks.

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in building maintenance or related trade work.
• Basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry systems.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Must be able to work in both indoor and outdoor environments under all weather conditions.
• Must be able to lift 20 pounds.
