Water/Wastewater Maintenance Worker

GENERAL PURPOSE: Under general supervision, performs semi-skilled general labor to assist with the maintenance, repair and upkeep of the water reclamation facility, wastewater collection system, and water distribution systems. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Performs semi-skilled labor in the maintenance, construction, repair and upkeep of the water reclamation facility, wastewater collections system, and water distribution system.
• Performs skilled and semiskilled construction, maintenance and manual labor work.
• Assists with the removal and install, repair and upkeep, and configuration of pumps, motors, and a variety of equipment at the water reclamation facility, wastewater collections systems, and water distribution system.
• Performs routine maintenance and custodial duties; picks up debris, paints facilities, structures and equipment, and makes minor and major maintenance repairs.
• Assists with the installation and maintenance of pumps, motors, and a variety equipment used at the water reclamation facility, wastewater collections system, and water distribution system.
• Inspects, cleans and performs routine maintenance work on trucks and equipment; identifies and reports mechanical problems requiring additional repair.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: None. Education and Experience:
High School diploma or GED equivalent, and one (1) year related work experience.

Special Requirements: Possession of a valid Arizona Commercial Drivers License may be required for certain positions. Special technical certifications may be required for some work assignments. Necessary Knowledge and Skills:

• Knowledge of City policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of equipment maintenance and repair methods and materials.
• Knowledge of safety standards and practices.
• Knowledge of traffic laws and rules involved in vehicle and equipment operation.
• Skill in safely and efficiently operating equipment according to standard operating and safety procedures.
• Skill in reading and interpreting maps, technical specifications and operations manuals for vehicles and equipment.
• Skill in following and effectively communicating verbal and written instructions.
