Under the close supervision of a supervisor, performs limited semi-skilled manual labor using a variety of hand tools, power tools, and equipment. May require light truck operation. More routine tasks are performed under general supervision with considerable independence but is subject to inspection while in progress and upon completion.
It may be necessary at times to work through normal lunch and break periods to restore drainage ways and/or roadways. It may also be required at times to work unscheduled overtime based on operational needs. Performs other work as required.

- Operates power mowers, weed eaters, edgers, clippers, chain saws, pole saws, demo saws and other hand tools used in municipal maintenance.
- Maintains municipal grounds by mowing, cleaning drainage ditches, installing fences and guard rails, cutting trees, and laying sod.
- Installs drainage pipe working around heavy equipment.
- Builds, pours, forms and finishes concrete; patches potholes.
- Operates light trucks.
- Use shovel to manually dig and backfill jobsites.
- Clean and restore job site to original condition. This may include placing sod, raking and other landscape type jobs.
- Clean and maintain order in utility yard and shop area.
- Work as a member of a repair and/or maintenance crew as directed.
- Operation, cleaning and general maintenance of City vehicles and equipment as directed.
- Must be able to work on steep terrain.
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. (Proof must be uploaded with application).
- Experience in manual work related to the maintenance of streets and stormwater systems and associated equipment.
Licenses, Certifications or Registrations:
- Must possess and maintain a valid State of Florida Class B Commercial Driver's license with air brake endorsement. Applicants who do not currently possess a Class B CDL with air brake endorsement must acquire a learners permit within 3 months of hire and obtain the license within 6 months of hire. Applicants who possess an out of state drivers license must obtain the Florida license within 10 days of employment.

- Ability to work regularly scheduled hours.
- Ability to hear, speak and understand conversation in English in various tones of voice, as well as accents or quickly spoken. Use of senses that include sight, smell, hearing and touch as aids in the evaluation and troubleshooting of malfunctioning equipment.
- Ability to see, read, and comprehend letters, numbers, words, characters, or symbols which are both large and small, as well as identify colors.
- Ability to read, write, print and draw letters, numbers, words, characters, and symbols which are legible and understood by others.
- Ability to use small hand tools which require the use of hands, wrists, and fingers.
- Ability to walk, stand, and sit for periods longer than 30 minutes but not to exceed 8 hours consecutively.
- Ability to stand in a stationary position for more than 30 minutes at time.
- Ability to walk continuously for more than 10 minutes at a time throughout the working day.
- Ability to lift, carry, push and pull items which weigh up to 50 pounds over uneven terrain, inclines and declines, up/down stairs or ladders.
- Ability to carry items for a distance which ranges from 10 feet to no more than 300 yards.
- Ability to lift and/or carry items which are considered awkward to grasp or hold on to.
- Ability to lift items (weighing less than 30 pounds) above the head or down from over the head.
- Ability to hold items (weighing 1 to 30 pounds) for a period less than 10 minutes, without putting the item down.
- Ability to stay in a bending, kneeling, or squatting position for periods less than 10 minutes.
- Ability to go from a standing or sitting position to a bending, kneeling, or squatting position, or vice-versa, periodically.
- Ability to move back and forth and sideways while in a bending, kneeling, or squatting position.
- Ability to learn simple to complex tasks and remember how to complete tasks without assistance once trained.
- Ability to operate motor vehicles (i.e. pickup trucks, vans, etc.) in a safe and efficient manner, load or unload vehicles with objects weighing no more than 50 pounds.
- Ability to see and work at night in dimly lit conditions as necessary and during inclement weather.
- Ability to work in undesirable conditions including small, enclosed, or partially enclosed areas, dust, dirt, fumes, odors, noise, wetness, humidity, static electricity, chemicals, hot and cold.
- Ability to work at levels higher than three feet.
