Job Summary
The Building Mechanics are responsible for maintaining the University facilities through regular inspections, preventive maintenance, and corrective maintenance. This position reports to the Mechanic Supervisor and will assistant the Building Mechanics in replacing lightbulbs and ballasts, filters, screens, etc.; installing fixtures; light construction and plumbing; and some light cleaning of mechanical spaces and equipment.
A valid driver's license and a driving record background check are required prior to being hired. Student employees must also successfully complete Campus Safety's online driver safety training before driving on campus for this position.
The hours available to work are Monday through Friday, between 8:00am-4:30pm. We can be flexible with class scheduling. We are hiring for this position on a rolling basis.
Core Duties
Lightbulb replacement
Plumbing repairs
Fixture installations
Cleaning of mechanical spaces & equipment
Light construction/demolition
Ability to think through and solve problems in real-time
Assist with warehousing and inventory of parts
Drive University vehicles on campus to move tools, equipment, and supplies as needed
Be able to use OneDrive
Other relevant duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Valid driver's license
Must consent to a driving record background check
Ability to learn and abide by safety policies and procedures
Preferred Qualifications
Mechanical aptitude and interest
Previous experience with with minor plumbing and electrical repairs
Previous experience using basic hand tools
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift 50lbs
Ability to work on your feet and be mobile for extended periods of time
Ability to use a ladder
