1 st Shift – 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM

2 nd Shift – 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM

3 rd Shift – 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM

OVERALL PURPOSE OF JOB

To inspect, install, repair, replace, adjust and maintain equipment in the plant. To inspect, repair, paint, and refurbish Wyandot, Inc. buildings and related equipment. To maintain plant functionality with a minimum amount of downtime towards the operations.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Receive and follow work orders from supervision with minimal direction.
  • Develop team atmosphere between Production and Maintenance.
  • Plan out work procedures, determine tools and materials required.
  • Make suggestions for redesigning and/or improvement modifications of equipment and systems.
  • Inspect mechanical equipment for defects, i.e.: misalignment, wear, etc.
  • Determine optimization of repairs to minimize cost and interruption towards production.
  • Advise when immediate shutdown of equipment is necessary to minimize damage or when continued operation will have no harmful effect.
  • Dismantles, cleans, repairs, replaces, installs, maintains, assembles and lubricates equipment.
  • Adjust equipment for proper operating characteristics.
  • Adjust for any modifications/improvements necessary to maintain equipment and property/facility.
  • Assist outside contractors and technicians for repairs/installations.
  • Assemble and align gears, bearings and shafts.
  • Record daily data of work performed. Maintain 5s boards.
  • Maintain the working area in a clean and orderly fashion.
  • Assist in on-the-job training of less skilled mechanics.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Must be able to interpret and service machinery from electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic diagrams
  • Must be able to repair power transmission equipment.
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs., which is necessary to repair gear boxes, motors, etc.
  • Requires the ability to work off platforms, which can be up to 15 feet off the ground.
  • Must have the manual skill and dexterity to move and work around heavy machinery throughout the plant.
  • Must have good basic math skills and be able to communicate in English effectively.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Must be able to endure hot and cold temperatures in the work environment.
  • Must wear Arc flash clothing, safety shoes, earplugs
  • Requires successful tow motor licensing.
  • Must abide by all plant rules and food safety regulations, including work, safety and sanitation rules.
  • The company supplies designated personal hand tools.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • AA- Must have 18 months experience as an A Mechanic.
  • AAA- Must have a minimum of 5 years of maintenance experience in an industrial environment, equivalent education completed or have held a position of AA Mechanic.
  • All Mechanic roles must express desire to continue through the certification process to obtain the next level of Mechanic status.
