Maintenance Worker Trainee

This is a part-time seasonal position and is at the trainee level. Performs manual labor to support maintenance of facilities and parks. Duties include, but are not limited to shoveling, concrete work, trash/debris removal, painting, lighting, moving furniture, mopping floors, cleaning building/restrooms, etc. Responsible for learning the trade in a safe and conscientious manner, and for proper maintenance of equipment and tools. Performs additional duties as assigned. Must exhibit attention to detail, accuracy, and safety. Must be able to communicate and present oneself in a professional manner. Ability to establish and maintain effective working and professional relationships with City employees and officials, and the general public. Ability to take and follow oral instructions. Ability to read and understand instructions and product directions. Ability to work under high demands, short time constraints, and the pressure of a fast-paced work environment. Ability to work during weekends and night-time events and hours of operations. Skilled in operating ride and push mowers, and hand-held and/or power tools. Must possess a valid Class C driver license. Must pass all post offer pre-employment processes and/or procedures, to include but not limited to Drug Screen, Physical Examination, and applicable Background Checks.

Qualifications:

Requires either a High School diploma or GED. At least 1 year s experience in parks and building maintenance, landscaping, and/or lawn care is preferred. All candidates are required to complete an employment application, which must be submitted to the City Secretary. Hiring Range: $10/hr to $14.75/hr (DOQ).
