The City of Laurel is accepting applications for the following union position: Maintenance Worker II.
Schedule: Workweek is Tuesday through Saturday; 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. with half-hour unpaid lunch.
Starting wage is $26.13 per hour.
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of two (2) years experience in construction, maintenance, repair, or similar work.
- Experience operating a variety of equipment and trucks.
- Must be able to frequently lift up to 75 pounds.
- Commercial Driver License Class B required with air brakes endorsement.
- Pre-employment physical and drug screen will be required.
- Background checks will be performed prior to employment offer.
Duties may include but are not limited to the following:
- Perform a variety of skilled and semi-skilled work.
- Operate and maintain a variety of equipment.
- Dive and load refuse collection and transfer trucks.
- Perform minor repairs to equipment used.
- Perform tasks of chip sealing and overlay of streets.
- Assist in the maintenance of parks and perform caretaker duties at cemetery.
- May be assigned as an operator at the water and wastewater plants with proper certifications.
- Perform tasks of a Maintenance Worker I as assigned.
- May be required to respond to emergency after hour calls.
