Jr Maintenance Mechanic (PERM)

Responsibilities

Perform basic preventative maintenance on industrial sewing machines (e.g., oiling, cleaning, tightening belts).

· Assist senior mechanics in diagnosing and repairing mechanical issues in sewing and related textile equipment.

· Set up and configure each machine so that it is optimized for mattress manufacturing.

· Conduct minor repairs and adjustments to ensure optimal stitch quality and equipment uptime.

· Complete daily preventative maintenance to reduce machine downtime.

· Support the setup and calibration of sewing machines for different product lines and fabric types.

· Test and document operation of all sewing equipment and keep a repair log.

· Replace broken or worn machine parts such as needles, hooks, feed dogs, and tension components.

· Lead safety first culture and help implement and ensure safety procedures are used throughout the facility.

· Other duties and tasks as needed to support production, quality, and safety.

The essential functions of this role include:

working in a smoke free environment

wearing steel toe shoes

working in a non-temperature controlled environment

standing for 2 hours at one time
