Life Skills and Transition Center (LSTC) - Grafton, ND - Plant Services General Worker
As our Plant Services General Worker, you will play a vital role in keeping our property safe, functional, and looking its best reflecting the values of the State of North Dakota.
Your day-to-day work will include a wide range of general maintenance responsibilities, often more complex in nature, covering everything from carpentry, masonry, and painting to electrical work, intercom systems, telephone wiring, fire detection systems, refrigeration, and machine shop systems. You'll be hands-on with repairs and upkeep of plumbing, wastewater systems, and heating and cooling systems.
You'll also be out in the elements maintaining the property's appearance throughout the seasons-mowing, trimming weeds, shoveling snow, and plowing when needed. Maintaining the safety and appearance of our lawns and trees is a big part of the job. You'll operate lawn mowers, weed trimmers, hand tools, to keep everything trimmed and clean. Some areas need a manual touch, and you'll be there trimming trees and landscaping where machines can't reach.
You'll also take on other duties as assigned, such as performing minor repairs on grounds equipment, testing swimming pool chemicals, and assisting other Plant Services staff with special projects. You'll be included in the fire call rotation, so flexibility and readiness are important. You will need to maintain a high level of safety standards and follow protocols.
To thrive in this role, you should be organized and confident in your knowledge of general trades like plumbing, electrical, construction, and HVAC. Physical stamina is important, as you'll need to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. To be considered for this position, you are required to have a high school diploma or equivalent AND a minimum of Five (5) years or related experience.

ND HHS utilizes a blended workplace model. This position provides essential client services face to face and therefore the person in this position needs to be onsite in Grafton, ND.
