Building Maintenance Technician

Role Summary:

The incumbent will provide a wide range of maintenance and facility support for Apothecary Products, LLC (APL) including repairs, replacements, adjustments, and maintenance of equipment. Responsibilities include but are not limited to changing bulbs/light fixtures throughout the facility, maintaining all bathroom fixtures, maintaining the cleanliness of the warehouse floors, preventative maintenance, snow removal, and other facilities support as needed.

Essential Duties + Responsibilities:

  • Perform basic and routine facility maintenance, inside and outside the APL building, warehouse, and production area.
  • Utilize tools, materials, and equipment according to safety and operational principles and practices; may handle and label hazardous waste or materials based on area of assignment.
  • Provide basic maintenance to the floor scrubber, pallet jacks and other basic pieces of equipment.
  • Maintain all bathroom fixtures throughout the facility and keep an accurate and up to date inventory of bathroom fixture repair parts and communicate issues to the Process Engineering + Maintenance Manager.
  • Maintain all lighting fixtures throughout the facility; maintain stock of replacement parts/fixtures and used parts/fixtures that need to be recycled.
  • Stock the janitorial supply closets; maintain accurate inventory of all janitorial supplies and place orders for supplies as required. Communicate issues to the Process Engineering + Maintenance Manager
  • Stock the lunchroom supplies and coffee items; maintain accurate inventory of all lunchroom/coffee supplies and place orders for supplies as required. Communicate issues to the Process Engineering + Maintenance Manager
  • Work with or assist trades contractors to complete projects or complex repairs.
  • Ensure that all sidewalks are free of snow and ice in the winter months; perform spring and fall grounds cleanup as well as maintain debris free grounds throughout the year.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and APL operating policies and procedures to maintain a safe environment and efficient operations; support team in efforts to further develop the preventative maintenance programs, standard operating procedures, safe practices, and general manufacturing practices.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the warehouse floors including operating the floor scrubber.
  • Perform a variety of plumbing maintenance and carpentry functions.
  • Assist with miscellaneous projects throughout the facility.
  • Other duties as beneficial to the success of APL.

Competencies:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent

Work Experience: 0-2 years experience in a building maintenance and/or basic maintenance role

Basic plumbing and carpentry/repairs skills

Critical skills and abilities:

  • Ability to safely operate power tools and shop equipment.
  • Ability to learn quickly and follow standard operating procedures and quality standards within APL.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of facility preventative maintenance programs or ability to quickly learn.
  • Broad knowledge of General Manufacturing Practices (GMP) or ability to quickly learn.
  • Promotes positive team spirit through words and actions; follow through on commitments you make.
  • Must be well-composed while under pressure always maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Takes an active role in working safely and upholding APL's commitment to maintenance of a safe work environment; speaks up when safety concerns present.
  • Solid communication skills with both internal team members and external contractors/suppliers.
  • Basic computer knowledge and skills. Including, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and other software when applicable.
  • This position requires an individual who is a self-starter and can work independently but also in a team environment that requires cross training, open communication, and team development activities.
  • Willingness to continuously learn and be open to feedback to improve individual performance.
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed and be able to work well under the pressure of deadlines.

Work Environment:

The work environment for this position is a combination of office and manufacturing settings. As Apothecary Products is a manufacturer and distributor of products and supplies, the incumbent will be exposed to various temperatures, fumes, and loud noise in the manufacturing setting. Time will be spent indoors and outdoors. Due to regular time spent on the manufacturing floor, the incumbent must be able to tolerate extended exposure to these workplace characteristics. The incumbent must also follow company safety procedures.
