About the role

Located just outside of Chicago, our Melrose Park location is part of our Meat division and creates batter blends, pastry blends, and bread crumbs. Melrose Park is part of a Union. This is a 1st shift opportunity. Friday to Monday. 2am to 12pm. 10 hour shift, 4 days a week.

The starting wage for this role is $39.54 per hour. This position may also be eligible for a shift differential and/or overtime. Key responsibilities

Role Description, Skills, Experience and Qualifications required: Role Description for AWS Mechanic A (Alternative Work Schedule):

  • Provides emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
  • Performs mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of packaging and production machines.
  • Self starter, needs little supervisor/or none to accomplish work.
  • Able to Reads and interprets blueprints, mechanical and electrical schematics, and ladder logic.
  • Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments.
  • Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and plant facilities.
  • Able to trouble shoot PLC and robotics.
  • Ability to wire, configure and troubleshoot variable frequency drives.
  • Ability to wire and troubleshoot electrical instruments and various input devices such as temperature sensors, pressure sensors, level sensors, position sensors etc.
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties.
  • Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision.
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
  • Read, review and apply prints, schematics and operating manuals to repair and maintain equipment.
  • Complete work orders and paperwork regarding daily maintenance and repair duties.
  • Perform general building maintenance.
  • Perform a variety of maintenance requiring knowledge of plumbing, pipefitting, carpentry, electrical, electronics, welding and other skilled trades.
  • Generate and complete work orders as assigned from our CMMS system.
  • Perform a variety of preventative maintenance on machine parts, pumps, motors, hydraulic systems and related plant and facility equipment.
  • Rebuild and fabricate parts
  • Basic computer skills and overall technology aptitude (able to work with MS Office and SAP).
  • Overall knowledge in BMS (Building Management System)

Qualifications and skills

Job Requirements & Qualifications:

  • HS diploma/GED (Apprenticeship or applicable certifications highly preferred)
  • 3-6 years of maintenance mechanic experience, in the food industrial and/or bakery work environment preferred.
  • Must provide his own tools to make repairs and/or make adjustments.
  • Ability to apply various principles and practices in a variety of skilled-trade areas (e.g., plumbing, PLC, controls, robotic, boilers, HVAC system, mechanical, electrical, carpentry, welding, etc.).
  • Able to stand or kneel for extended periods for repairs as required.
  • Basic computer skills and overall technology aptitude (able to work with MS Office and SAP).
  • Ability to lift in excess of 50 lbs.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Able to climb ladders to silos or towers up to 50-60 ft. on a daily basis as required.
  • Able to work in a dusty or hot environment
  • Complete daily maintenance and repair logs.
  • Knowledge of GMPs, lock out/ tag out (LOTO), and arc flash.
  • Work overtime and weekends when required.
  • Able to work any shift when needed.
