Salary Range: Up to $37,400 annualized, commensurate with education, experience and qualifications.

Essential Functions
Job Summary
The Maintenance Worker II works to provide sub-journeyman work in the performance of a variety of maintenance and repair tasks in one or more craft areas. Organize the work plan for the building maintenance needs, provide technical guidance and leadership, coordinate corrective and preventive maintenance activity, assign work orders and control supply and tool inventories. This role is responsible for the daily operations, maintenance and repair work of plumbing, painting, electrical, carpentry, air conditioning, and refrigeration. Utilize the The Maintenance Authority (TMA) system in the management of work orders related to the department. Assist in the coordination of space make-readies, facility renovations and new construction.
Core Responsibilities
- Performs semi-skilled maintenance and repair tasks, including painting, paint mixing, and color matching; unclogging sinks, toilets, and sewer lines; assisting with wood construction and repairs; replacing light bulbs, fuses, and making basic electrical repairs; removing trash; event support; installing ceilings; and repairing or replacing plumbing fixtures such as lines, faucets, and sinks.
- May train student employees in the above duties.
- Utilizes TMA technology to manage daily work assignments and ensure all work orders are managed and closed accurately within the system.
- Maintains supply inventory accuracy and responsible for requesting purchases related to equipment and supplies.
- Ensures response time to emergency, urgent or normal work requests is compliant with our commitment to students.
- Secondary point of contact between the department and UTSA Facilities teams. Communicates concerns to UTSA Facilities in a timely manner.
- Performs general mechanical emergencies until UTSA Facilities support staff arrive.
- Actively participates in meetings and training opportunities as appropriate to the position.
- May be needed as essential staff in after-hour and weekend emergencies.
- Performs inspections to ensure facilities are maintained according to APPA standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Three (3) years of experience in performing a variety of sub-journeyman maintenance tasks.
- Valid driver's license. Driver's license history check.
- Must wear and properly maintain uniforms provided and carry a University issued radio while on shift.
- Must be knowledgeable in the general use of office equipment, computers, and other electronic hand held devices.
- Must have a wide knowledge of hand tools, power tools, and testing and repair equipment for multiple facility trade professions.
- Driving a golf-cart or state vehicle may be required.
- This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UTSA and its infrastructure.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of recognized apprenticeship in named trades.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Basic understanding of clerical procedures and systems such as recordkeeping and filing.
- Demonstrated independent decision-making and problem-solving ability.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Working Conditions
- Position will operate in air-condition office environment as well as outside in various weather conditions. Some exposure to weather and/or physical hazards.
- After adequate training, will participate in facilities related emergency response.
- Use of required special equipment and power tools. Exposure to mechanical and electrical hazards, and working in crawl spaces, machine rooms and other operational areas which may require protective equipment.
- Work schedule is currently Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM; however, flexible hours may be required to satisfy the department needs and may include overtime, evenings, odd hours, shift work, weekends and/or holidays.
Physical Demands:
- Duties require walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, stretching, lifting and climbing ladders.
- Must be able to lift, push and pull 50 pounds weights with or without accommodations.
This position will be primarily located on campus. Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility.
