What Youll DoPour and finish concrete for sidewalks, curbs, and gutters
Patch potholes and spread asphalt, gravel, and sand
Keep roads clearplow snow, mix salt, and handle winter emergencies
Load and haul materials to job sites in city trucks and dump bodies
Trim trees and brush, rake leaves, and remove debris to keep streets safe
Clean and fix storm drains, catch basins, and manholes
Set up barricades and signage for road work and emergencies
Run big equipment: graders, endloaders, backhoes, sweepers, loaders
What You Need
- Experience: At least 2 years on a crewroad work, construction, public works, or similar
- Skills: Know your way around machines and arent afraid of physical work
- License: Iowa Class A CDL with air brakes, or ability to get one in 6 months (preferred if youve already got it)
- Ready to Work: Comfortable outdoors, in all Iowa weatherrain, shine, snow, or heat. Able to lift 75 lbs. or more, operate hand tools, and handle tough tasks
- Team Player: Can listen to instructions, keep safety in mind, and work with others who take pride in a job well done
