At Spectro Alloys, were hiring a Rolling Equipment Maintenance Technician to help maintain our fleet of mobile and yard equipment, including forklifts, yard trucks, trailers, and more.

This role is perfect for someone who enjoys working with their hands, solving problems, and being part of a team that keeps production moving safely and efficiently .

What Youll Do:

  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair rolling equipment (mechanical, hydraulic, and some electrical systems)
  • Maintain service schedules and complete inspections for forklifts, yard trucks, trailers, and mobile machinery
  • Perform routine maintenance (e.g., greasing, belt changes, fluid checks)
  • Support part sourcing and request materials for repairs
  • Keep accurate logs of all maintenance and repairs
  • Communicate clearly with the Maintenance and Production teams
  • Keep your work area organized and safe
  • Follow all safety policies, including PPE, Lockout/Tagout, and safe equipment operation

Who Were Looking For:

Youre mechanically inclined, safety-minded, and comfortable working in an industrial environment. Youre not afraid to get dirty, and you take pride in keeping things running smoothly.

Must-Haves:

  • 23 years of mechanical maintenance experience (rolling equipment or similar)
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work independently
  • Familiarity with hydraulics, suspension systems, pumps, gears, and motors
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree a plus
  • Comfortable working in heat, noise, and around heavy equipment

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Welding or fabrication experience
  • Electrical or pneumatic system knowledge
  • Bi-lingual English/Spanish skills
  • Forklift certification (or willingness to earn one)

Requirements

Education & Experience:

Required :

  • 2-year Maintenance/Mechanics Degree or equivalent experience in a maintenance or mechanical role.
  • Proven experience in fleet maintenance management or similar role, with a strong understanding of mechanical equipment and rolling systems.

Preferred :

  • Experience in heavy industrial or manufacturing environments.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, especially in managing teams of technicians or mechanics.

Skills & Abilities:

Required :

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, specifically related to rolling equipment and vehicles.
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate, manage, and develop a maintenance team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, for data analysis, reporting, and scheduling.
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues, determine root causes, and implement solutions.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to provide clear instructions and updates to teams.
  • Demonstrated experience with safety programs and ensuring adherence to safety standards.

Preferred :

  • Experience working with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Familiarity with cost control principles and managing budgets for maintenance activities.
  • Understanding of continuous improvement initiatives and experience implementing them in a team environment.

Physical & Environmental Requirements:

  • Ability to work in an industrial environment with exposure to noise, heat, and heavy machinery.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs on occasion and be comfortable working with large equipment and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to spend extended periods walking or standing on the plant floor.

Certifications & Training (Preferred but not required):

  • Certifications in maintenance management or safety (such as OSHA or PMP) are a plus.
  • Forklift certification or other relevant industrial equipment operation certifications.
  • First Aid/CPR training.

Other Requirements:

  • Must be able to pass a background check, physical exam, and drug screen (safety first!).
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and make decisions based on established practices and procedures.
  • Ability to follow established protocols, including safety measures and operational guidelines.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement maintenance programs that improve efficiency and minimize downtime.
