Summary:
The Kitchen Mechanic (Level 3) maintains and repairs all types of commercial kitchen equipment and systems, including but not limited to refrigeration, 120-480 volt electrical, low-pressure steam equipment, CO2 systems, and auxiliary equipment such as water filtration, water softeners, and compressed air systems. This role requires extensive knowledge in electrical controls, troubleshooting, and repairing large commercial equipment.
Responsibilities:
- Visually inspects and listens to machines and equipment to locate causes of malfunctions.
- Dismantles machines and equipment to gain access to problem areas.
- Inspects and measures parts to detect wear, misalignment, or other problems.
- Maintains an accurate and legible log book on daily activities.
- Removes and replaces worn or defective parts.
- Repairs broken or malfunctioning equipment and systems.
- Starts machines and equipment to test operation following repair.
- Adheres to safety protocols and guidelines when working with electrical, gas, and other potentially hazardous systems.
- Maintains inventory of kitchen equipment and supplies, and generates requisitions for replenishment.
- Coordinates large installations and deep cleaning of equipment.
- Reads schematics and blueprints to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
- Complies with the company's drug-free and tobacco/nicotine-free policy.
- All other duties as assigned.
Experience/Qualifications:
- 3+ years of kitchen mechanic experience repairing kitchen equipment, preferably in a commercial kitchen setting.
- Extensive knowledge in electrical controls and CO2 systems.
- Experience in troubleshooting and repairing large commercial equipment. Knowledge in all gas and electric equipment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. consistently and 75 lbs. infrequently.
- Must be able to legally work in the USA.
Education and Certification(s)/License(s):
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
- Valid electrician certification or license (preferred).
