Job Summary:

We are looking for a dependable and safety-conscious Level 1 Telecom Cabling Technician to support the installation, routing, and termination of low-voltage cabling systems. This is an entry-level position, ideal for individuals starting their careers in telecommunications, particularly in structured cabling for voice, data, and video networks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, route, label, and terminate Category 5e, 6, 6A, and fiber optic cables in commercial or industrial environments.
  • Assist with pulling and securing cables through walls, ceilings, conduit, cable trays, and other pathways.
  • Follow instructions from senior technicians, supervisors, and project managers on layout and installation plans.
  • Terminate and test copper and fiber cabling using industry-standard tools and equipment.
  • Set up and install telecommunications infrastructure components such as patch panels, jacks, racks, cable trays, and conduits.
  • Adhere to cabling standards such as TIA/EIA, BICSI, and OSHA safety guidelines.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas and job site.
  • Document work performed and report progress or issues to lead technician or supervisor.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and repairing basic cable faults or connectivity issues.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Basic knowledge of low-voltage cabling and network infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with hand tools and power tools (e.g., drills, fish tapes, crimpers, punch-down tools).
  • Ability to read and interpret simple floor plans, cable run lists, and technical instructions.
  • Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and lift up to 100 lbs.
  • Strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and attention to detail.
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license preferred.

Preferred Skills (Optional):

  • Basic understanding of cable certification tools (e.g., Fluke testers).
  • Previous construction or electrical experience a plus.
  • Exposure to cable management best practices and labeling standards.
  • BICSI Installer 1 certification (or willingness to obtain).
