Location: Champaign, IL

Shift: Second Shift Mon-Fri, Flexible start times after 2PM

Pay: $26-$31 per hour

2nd Shift Premium : $1.00 per hour

Total Compensation for 2nd Shift: $27-$32 per hour

What Youll be doing as a Diesel Mechanic:

  • Supervise shift mechanics by assigning tasks, verifying completed work, and assisting with training and disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Authorize and oversee after-hours repairs in alignment with company policies and procedures.
  • Manage parts inventory using TMT, including ordering, receiving, and tracking of parts and supplies.
  • Perform diagnostics, maintenance, and full-service repairs on heavy-duty vehicles and trailers, including work on brakes, transmissions, rear-ends, clutches, diesel engines, electrical systems, and welding/fabrication tasks.
  • Remove, repair, reinstall, and adjust vehicle components; conduct thorough final inspections to ensure all repairs meet federal and state safety regulations.
  • Complete detailed work orders and maintain accurate maintenance and repair records.
  • Respond to on-site service calls and provide support as needed.
  • Collaborate with technicians and provide guidance on complex repairs and troubleshooting.
  • Open and close the maintenance facility, ensuring readiness and security of operations.

Diesel Mechanic Required Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a diesel mechanic; supervisory or lead technician experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with diagnostic tools and repair software (experience with TMT a plus).
  • Strong mechanical, electrical, and welding skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication abilities.
  • Valid drivers license; CDL preferred or willingness to obtain.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and respond to after-hours calls if required.
