Facilities Maintenance Mechanic

The CSU Desert Studies Center (DSC), a satellite campus of California State University located near Baker, California (approximately 90 miles southwest of Las Vegas), is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Mechanic. The position is full-time, year-round, and based at the DSC (housing is provided). Previous employees have stayed at the DSC during the week and then returned home on weekends.

The ideal person is a skilled generalist, performing at a journey-level in one trade with strong skills in other trades. This position performs a variety of skilled preventive and general maintenance, repair, construction, and renovation work on facilities and systems on the grounds of the DSC. Activities include but are not limited to general building maintenance, general carpentry, general plumbing, general electrical, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), routine mechanical maintenance on vehicles, as well the day-to-day administration of facilities including procurement. Must be able to work independently to identify and complete needed work and with no direct supervision.

Mechanic will be an employee of CSU Fullerton. Must have a valid California driver's license or be willing to obtain one. See other requirements in the official job ad.
