Schedule: Full-Time, Night Shift (e.g., 7:00 PM – 3:00 AM)
Salary Range: $52,000 – $65,000 (Non-exempt)
Position Overview:The Night Facility Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and directing nighttime facility maintenance operations for all transit-owned buildings and infrastructure. This position ensures all systems and assets—including fueling stations, HVAC, lighting, safety systems, shop equipment, vertical circulation systems (elevators/escalators), bus wash equipment, and doors—are functional, secure, and compliant with standards. The role provides overnight supervision and leadership for night-shift technicians and contractors, ensures timely resolution of maintenance issues, and communicates with day-shift management for continuity of service.
Key Responsibilities:- Supervise and coordinate the night maintenance crew across multiple agency facilities.
- Respond to after-hours emergencies and urgent maintenance issues, resolving problems efficiently to prevent service disruption.
- Perform nightly inspections of agency-owned facilities to ensure proper functioning of lighting, plumbing, HVAC, safety equipment, fueling systems, vertical circulation, bus wash equipment, and doors.
- Ensure night shift tasks are completed per maintenance schedules, safety protocols, and quality standards.
- Provide real-time leadership and direction to technicians, offering troubleshooting support and delegating tasks appropriately.
- Maintain clear and consistent communication with day supervisors to ensure a smooth shift transition and proper issue handoff.
- Document work completed during the shift, noting any unresolved issues, supply needs, or safety concerns.
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors as needed for overnight projects or emergency repairs.
- Enforce OSHA, TOSHA, ADA, fire, and safety compliance during night operations.
- Monitor and manage use of tools, parts, and materials; ensure all are secured at shift end.
- Provide input on technician performance, training needs, and overall night operations effectiveness.
- Support minor overnight projects and ensure the facilities are ready for day shift operations.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certifications or coursework in facility systems preferred.
- 5+ years of increasingly responsible experience in facility maintenance, including at least 2 years in a lead or supervisory role.
- Experience with transit systems, fueling stations, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, vertical circulation, bus wash equipment, and doors strongly preferred.
- Night shift or 24/7 operations experience a plus.
- Facility systems operation and maintenance (electrical, HVAC, plumbing, lighting, etc.).
- Emergency and safety procedures for hazardous materials and fueling systems.
- Building code compliance and OSHA/TOSHA regulations.
- Maintenance scheduling and reporting tools.
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
- Effective team leadership and interpersonal communication.
- Ability to work independently and make decisions during non-business hours.
- Strong written communication for shift reports and documentation.
Primarily night shift, including weekends or holidays as needed.
Work performed indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical labor as required.
Requires walking, climbing, bending, crawling, and use of ladders.
