Brief Position OverviewThis position works under general supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, performing a variety of duties related to the maintenance and operation of the buildings and grounds as necessary. This includes scheduling and performing preventative maintenance of mechanical equipment and ensuring proper recordkeeping procedures. Other duties might also include: operation of forklifts, front end loaders and tractors with snow brooms. This position may assist carpenters, plumbers, painters, HVAC technicians, and electricians as needed.

Duties and ResponsibilitiesDUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:Use appropriate equipment to perform lawn work, move snow, perform landscapingMove furniture for Painters and other trade employeesCleanup, lift materials, assist carpentersAssist electricians with pulling wire and hanging equipmentAssist Plumbers with jetting lines Move furniture per department request or for other Facilities Services projectsCoordinate work orders with class and event schedules to ensure work is performed timely and correctlyMaintain paperwork for projects and vendorsAct as lead worker to student workers and temporary workers by assigning tasks and providing necessary trainingPerform preventative maintenance on air handlers, motors, fans, heaters, small engines and automobilesPerform scheduled filter and belt changes and adjustments. Lube, inspection, and cleaning of air handlers, exhaust fans, compressors, AC units, condensing units and intake vents and ductworkPerform scheduled inspections of sprinkler systems' main valve and gauges, elevator fire operations and safety proceduresRead, record and inspect all metersPerform record-keeping activities to show the details of the maintenance that was completedEnsure preventative maintenance is done on schedule by keeping detailed recordsWork safely and encourage safe working behaviors from others so that a safe work culture is developed and maintained.Participate in and complete all safety training on timeReport incidents or injuries immediatelyParticipate in required and optional safety training and drills

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires strenuous physical labor; some heavy lifting, bending stooping, climbing and working in some inclement weather. Position will require working from ladders, scaffolding and heights. Job hazards will be working with power equipment. Safety consciousness is required to minimize job hazards.
