Are you passionate about sharing your technical expertise and helping others grow in their careers? As a Maintenance Mechanic Trainer, you'll play a vital role in shaping the next generation of skilled trades professionals. You'll design and deliver hands-on training programs for Maintenance Mechanic 1 and 2 personnel, guiding them through the maintenance, repair, and operation of essential building systems.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead engaging, practical instruction in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.

  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules that promote safety and regulatory compliance.

  • Troubleshoot and repair fans, motors, pumps, and other rotating equipment across campus facilities.

  • Work with hydraulic systems and components, ensuring proper maintenance and functionality.

  • Install various types of bearings, often requiring creative hoisting solutions and custom fabrication.

Additional Information:

This is a full time, permanent position. This position is overtime eligible.

Monthly Salary: $5,398 to $6,259 | Range 51G (Steps G-M) | Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement.

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school graduation and four years of general work experience in building and equipment maintenance, construction or repair work or completion of a recognized apprenticeship in a skilled mechanic trade and one year of journey-level experience in building and equipment maintenance, construction, or repair work or equivalent education/experience.

  • Possession of, or ability to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver's license.

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and be available in emergency situations.

  • Demonstrated physical ability to do required work.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Four (4) years of experience in a Journey Level Trade, with one (1) year of experience in another Journey Level Trade: Refrigeration, Plumber, Electrician, Control Tech, etc.

  • Experience in building operations/maintenance.

  • Skill in performing planned and preventive maintenance and repair of all types of air compressors, vacuum & condensate pumps, and fans for hot and cold domestic water pumps.

  • Extensive experience using machine shop equipment: drill presses, band saws, welders, etc.

  • Experience in improvising, designing, and implementing solutions in emergency situations on-site in a short turnaround with limited resources.

  • Demonstrated experience designing, implementing and providing hands-on training programs for maintenance personnel, ensuring alignment with current industry standards, safety regulations, and best practices across trades such as refrigeration, plumbing, electrical, or related mechanical systems.
