Overview

The Park Maintenance Mechanic performs a wide variety of journeyman level mechanic repairs and maintenance services on gasoline and diesel powered heavy equipment to maintain equipment in operational readiness for the Parks and Recreation Department.

Essential Functions

1 Performs preventative maintenance and repairs to the fuel, ignition, electrical, braking, air conditioning, and other systems in off-road equipment and power tools; ensures that City equipment is maintained in a safe and operational condition.

2 Maintains and repairs electrical carts, batteries, charging ports, and braking systems; identifies issues that need to be repaired and completes various projects.

3 Removes, disassembles, rebuilds, repairs, assembles, and installs units; works with transmissions, engines, differentials, hydraulic control units, pumps, seals, hoses, clutches, and brakes; uses and operates power hoists and other tools to perform repairs.

4 Inspects, checks, repairs, rotates, and changes tires on Turf and AG equipment to maintain safety and operations efficiency; troubleshoots electrical, charging, and control systems, diagnoses problems and performs work to repair.

5 Inventories, manages, organizes, and orders parts and routine items for equipment and tools.

6 Provides quality customer service and competent public interaction; handles hazardous or dangerous situations with professionalism and efficiency.

7 Performs any and all other work as required or assigned.

Knowledge and Skills

1 Knowledge of equipment and tools used in various mechanical repairs.

2 Maintaining and operating hand and power tools.

3 Knowledge and understanding of safety procedures

4 Ability to read and write and perform basic mathematical calculations.

5 Reading and interpreting mechanical manuals and schematics.

6 Ability to perform labor for extended periods of time.

7 Establishing and maintaining strong relationships.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience

2 years of experience maintaining or repairing landscaping equipment.

Licenses and Certifications

Texas Driver's License

Education

High School Diploma, GED

Salary Range

$22.32 - $24.56
