Qualifications:
MECHANIC - WATER/WASTEWATER TREATMENT FACILITY
Must live 30 minutes from the site.
Must be willing to obtain Level 1 wastewater treatment certification within a year of being hired (Paid for)
On call rotation required
Knowledge of the methods, materials, equipment, and tools used in the construction, repair, and operation of engines, pumps, and other mechanical equipment related to wastewater treatment plant operations and procedures
Knowledge of the principles and practices of an effective mechanical, structural, and grounds preventive maintenance program and operations of internal combustion engines and electrical pump motors
Basic electrical knowledge involved in working on pumps, motors, and other equipment; equipment, tools, and materials used in maintaining and repairing wastewater treatment plant and related equipment
Demonstrated experience in safety principles and practices, and related state and federal laws and regulations
Responsibilities:
Perform work on major and minor repair work and overhauls on plant's engines, motors, pumps, and related equipment
Schedules work to be done and determines type and quantities of materials needed for such work
Inspects buildings and equipment for needed maintenance and repair
Ensures the proper use and care of tools, materials, and safety equipment
Assures adherence to safety, cleanliness, and fire prevention rules and standards
Tunes up engines; sets valve clearances; and cleans and adjusts regulators, gas, and other controls and devices
Maintains and repairs pumps; replaces bearings, valves, seals, and controllers; builds pump mounts and brackets; does welding.
Maintains comprehensive log of all maintenance work done on equipment
Determines remedial action in emergency situations
