CHEMetrics LLC, located in Midland, VA, and a subsidiary of AquaPhoenix Scientific, has an immediate opening for a reliable and detailed-oriented Facility Maintenance Technician to join our growing company. This position plays a critical role in ensuring our facility and equipment are properly maintained and functional for our manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate must have a strong work ethic, skilled at performing general to advanced maintenance tasks, ability to see tasks through to completion, and can work independently as well as part of a team.

Essential Responsibilities and Expectations:

Although not all inclusive, additional responsibilities, expectations and skills will include:

  • Perform inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs of building systems to include HVAC, electrical, plumbing, wastewater processing, fire and security alarms, etc.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, including inspections, repairs, equipment servicing and scheduled preventative maintenance. Ensure documentation is up to date, organized and accessible for audits, compliance, and operational efficiency.
  • Participate in year-round grounds maintenance tasks.
  • Operate groundskeeping equipment such as snow blowers, tractors, and other power tools to ensure a clean, safe and well-maintained outdoor environment.
  • Ability to drive company vehicles to run errands such as handling of mail, picking up materials/supplies and traveling to the country waste management facility.
  • Maintain a neat and clean appearance of the interior of the facility by performing necessary tasks and communicating with the department supervisor and the janitorial contractor.
  • Assist in daily opening and closing of the facility and act as a secondary contact for emergency calls from the alarm company.
  • Ability to achieve well-water testing requirements, forklift certification and participation on the Company’s safety team.
  • Properly care and maintain tools and equipment used for maintenance of the facility and grounds.
  • Ability to safely operate and maintain a powered industrial forklift and electric pallet stacker to support the pre and post-production process.
  • Act as a key support liaison to the manufacturing and production teams as needed, performing tasks as required to assist in the production life-cycle process.

AquaPhoenix Scientific considers applicants with diverse backgrounds, education, and work experience; however, applicants for the Facility Maintenance Technician position will frequently have a combined education and/or work experience that is a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent and at least three or more years’ work experience in a facility maintenance or a multiple skilled trades position.

Qualifications:

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent and at least 3-5 years’ experience working in a facility maintenance or skilled trades position.
  • Experience with working in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, drywall/building finishes and roofing, etc. is a plus but not required.
  • Computer skills required to organize and track information related to maintenance activities, equipment repairs, work orders, and to maintain accurate parts and supply inventories.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Must have valid drivers license and a good driving record to operate company vehicles.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
