- Test water for chlorine, pH, total alkalinity, total dissolved solids, and cyanuric acid and treats water with the proper chemicals to maintain safe and healthy water quality.
- Handles hazardous chemicals.
- Operates, adjust, repair and replaces chemical controllers to include calibration and meeting performance standards.
- Operates filter systems, inspects filter media and calculates proper flow rates through filters; inspects fixtures for leaks, condition of equipment, and filter pumps; conducts periodic maintenance; logs the appropriate data required by Health Department and maintains documentation.
- Inspects, operates, repairs or replaces automatic backwash systems and microprocessors used for pools and splash pads.
- Ensures safety equipment is properly inspected for damage and malfunctions, replaces or repairs defective items.
- Inspects, repairs, and replaces pool deck equipment; diving boards, ladders, guardrails, lifeguard stands, pool blankets, and lane separators.
- Performs preventive maintenance and repairs of aquatic fixtures, equipment, pools, splash pads, and fountains; ensures repairs comply with applicable guidelines and procedures.
- Installs and removes equipment, including clocks, valves, meter boxes, pumps, and wires.
- Performs plumbing repairs and installations.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
High School Diploma or GED; with one year of experience in grounds and/or athletic field maintenance; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must possess' a valid driver's license.

- Knowledge of methods, tools, materials, and techniques required to maintain and repair commercial or municipal swimming pool and splash pad filter systems, chlorinators, and other aquatic equipment and related structures
- Knowledge of methods and techniques of water sterilization, chlorination, and pH balancing; occupational hazards and standard safety practices.
- Skill in the use of hand tools and measuring devices utilized in the repair or replacement of aquatic and electrical systems such as drill motors, power saws, volt meters, vacuums and pumps; perform general construction procedures.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently to achieve job tasks; interpret schematic drawings or operating manuals to determine proper maintenance procedures.
- Ability to understand occupational hazards and safety precautions of the work being performed, including moving around confined spaces and working with aquatic equipment and hazardous chemicals
- Ability to prepare complete, accurate, and concise reports, records, and logs relating to aquatic equipment and water quality; communicate clearly and concisely verbally and in writing
