JOB SUMMARY

UT Southwestern is actively seeking an experienced Senior Elevator Maintenance Mechanic to join our Elevator Shop team. We are looking for someone with the following skills:

  • Extensive Knowledge of Elevator Systems: Deep understanding of elevator systems, including mechanical, electrical, and electronic components.
  • Advanced Diagnostic Skills: Ability to use advanced tools and techniques to diagnose and troubleshoot complex elevator issues.
  • Strong Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Ability to effectively communicate with clients, team members, and other stakeholders.
  • Leadership and Mentoring Skills: Ability to lead and mentor junior technicians, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  • Problem-Solving Abilities: Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve complex problems related to elevator systems.
  • Compliance and Safety Knowledge: Thorough understanding of safety codes, regulations, and building codes related to elevators and escalators.
  • Physical Stamina and Dexterity: Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces.

As a Senior Elevator Maintenance Mechanic, you will work under broad administrative direction to provide advanced technical skills for inspection, maintenance, and repair of elevators in on-campus and off-campus university buildings.

Work Location: Dallas Campus; assist other UTSW locations as needed.

Shift Requirement: 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday; some after-hours work as well.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

Required

  • Education

High School Diploma or

Vocational School

  • Experience

6 years experience in maintenance, inspection, and repair of elevators.

Preferred

  • Licenses and Certifications

(DRIVERS) DRIVERS LICENSE and

CET Certificate and/or IUEC Mechanic Card preferred.

  • INCLUDE RESUME WITH ALL RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE AND COPY OF TRADE LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS*

JOB DUTIES

  • Makes periodic elevator inspections to ensure safe and efficient operations as scheduled by preventive maintenance computer printout.
  • Cleans, lubricates and adjusts relays, controls door operators and elevator pits as needed.
  • Inspects hoist and governor cables for wear. Maintains control rooms, equipment, car frames and safety devices in good working condition.
  • Answers trouble calls and makes all necessary repairs.
  • Orders tools, parts, and equipment required for maintenance and repair of elevators. Prepares list of spare parts needed to be kept in inventory.
  • Reviews and recommends plans and specifications for new elevators.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
