Job Summary
The Maintenance Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring that all process equipment in their assigned area is maintained and available to safely produce high quality products. The Maintenance Supervisor personally leads a multi-craft crew of approximately 25 people. The Maintenance Supervisor reports to the Maintenance Manager and is one of a team of supervisors on the maintenance staff.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Oversee and supervise team of maintenance technicians including reviewing team activities on the manufacturing floor.
- Minimize maintenance indirect labor cost including minimizing overtime.
- Ensure that breakdowns are repaired safely, efficiently and expeditiously.
- Ensure that preventative and predictive maintenance is being performed on all assets.
- Make changes to the preventive and predictive maintenance tasks based on breakdown and specific equipment recommended data.
- Continuously review process equipment components to ensure process equipment is available as components become obsolete.
- Handle general accounting tasks, such as payroll, and budgeting.
- Oversee and supervise the quality of work for other employees to ensure that all tasks are performed correctly, efficiently, and effectively.
- Manage and review service contracts.
- Conduct and document regular equipment inspections.
- Maintain adequate parts inventory and order items as necessary.
- Project Management - Obtain Competitive Quotes, Write and Justify Basic Capital Appropriation Requests, Coordinate and execute Capital Projects.
- Measure results using both maintenance and production metrics.
- Ensure compliance with all safety and security protocols.
- Gather and analyze data, blueprints and reports.
- Maintain all machinery to ensure it is working at designed standards.
- Assist in troubleshooting issues on equipment within the facility using this activity as a teaching moment for the team members supervised.
- Evaluate and develop the skill sets of the employees within the team supervised.
- Coordinate and oversee contractors performing maintenance activities.
Qualifications
- B.S. degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or equivalent work experience.
- At least 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment in a maintenance leadership role.
- Proficient with MS Office Word and Excel and computerized maintenance management systems (Oracle eAM desirable).
- Ability to supervise multiple projects simultaneously and to use data to prioritize efforts and set focus.
- Demonstrated strong leadership skills - supervise teams consisting of staff and contractors.
- Decision making skills.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven track record of a problem-solving mindset and working with internal customers while building key relationships.
- Hands-on mindset.
- Must be able to work in the US without sponsorship.
- Experience working in a union manufacturing facility.
- Experience in the glass fiber reinforcements industry desirable but not required.
