The purpose of this position is to maintain and repair various types of vehicles and equipment (including emergency vehicles) owned and operated by the City. This is accomplished by performing preventative and unscheduled maintenance repairs on vehicles and equipment and repairing electrical systems, vehicle drivability, drive trains, brakes, suspension systems and air and hydraulic systems. In addition, Emergency Vehicle Technicians will be responsible for repairs on fire apparatus such as electrical systems, pumps, pump components, engines, hydraulic/pneumatic suspension systems, emergency lighting, cooling systems, and hydraulic/gas/diesel generator repair. Other duties include welding and fabricating equipment, performing other repairs on vehicles, providing office support and interacting with other City employees and citizens.
Qualifications:
Six months to one year of education beyond high school.
Two years of experience in vehicle or equipment repair and maintenance.
Possess and maintain a Texas Class A or B commercial driver s license within six months of hire.
Obtain and maintain a minimum of four ASE certifications within one year of hire as a condition of continued employment.
Possess and maintain a State Inspection License within one year of hire.
Emergency Vehicle Technicians must obtain EVT certification within one year of hire as a condition of continued employment.
