Provide day-to-day technical leadership and coordination for the mechanical and electrical maintenance team to ensure reliable operation of production equipment and facility systems in a fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment. This is a hands-on supervisor role focused on guiding technicians, troubleshooting equipment issues, and setting standards for safety, quality, and efficient maintenance practices.

Team Leadership & Coordination

  • Serve as the primary point of guidance for maintenance technicians during daily operations.
  • Lead by example on technical troubleshooting, safe work practices, and equipment care.
  • Help organize and coordinate maintenance activities to reduce downtime and support production goals.
  • Mentor technicians by sharing expertise and encouraging skills development.

PLC & Automation Support

  • Troubleshoot, adjust, and help maintain PLC programs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.) and related automation systems.
  • Diagnose issues with sensors, HMIs, robotics, and control networks to support equipment uptime.
  • Provide technical guidance during equipment upgrades and process changes involving automation.

Preventive & Predictive Maintenance

  • Support the implementation and adherence to preventive and predictive maintenance schedules.
  • Monitor team progress and provide direction to keep schedules on track.
  • Breakdown Response
  • Lead first response efforts for equipment breakdowns, collaborating with technicians to identify root causes and implement timely repairs.
  • Ensure high standards of work quality and safety are maintained.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify and propose ideas to improve equipment reliability and team performance.
  • Promote use of lean tools, TPM, and root cause analysis in daily work.

Projects & Upgrades

  • Assist with installation, commissioning, and upgrades of machinery and equipment.
  • Coordinate daily tasks and provide technical input during project execution.

Safety & Compliance

  • Reinforce compliance with OSHA, environmental, and company safety standards.
  • Help maintain accurate maintenance records (CMMS, shift logs, checklists).

Spare Parts & Inventory

  • Monitor parts usage and communicate needs to avoid downtime.
  • Support standardization of parts and tools across the team.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Advanced troubleshooting skills in PLC systems and related automation equipment.
  • Working knowledge of robotics, HMIs, sensors, and industrial networks.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting capability.
  • Ability to coordinate and guide a multi-skilled maintenance team day to day.
  • Clear communicator able to translate complex technical issues into practical solutions.
  • Familiarity with hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical schematics.
  • Understanding of TPM, lean manufacturing, and root cause analysis.
  • Commitment to safety, reliability, and continuous improvement.

EDUCATION, CREDENTIALS & EXPERIENCE

  • Associate's degree or technical diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of maintenance supervisory experience in automotive or similar manufacturing, with significant hands-on PLC and automation work.
  • Experience using CMMS for tracking maintenance work and downtime.
  • Familiarity with automotive manufacturing standards, safety, and quality systems.
  • Bilingual strongly preferred.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL EFFORT

  • Work performed primarily on the manufacturing production floor and in maintenance areas, with some office-based planning and coordination.
  • Regular exposure to moving machinery, electrical systems, elevated noise levels, and varying temperatures.
  • Requires standing, walking, bending, climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces for extended periods.
  • Occasional lifting of parts or tools up to approximately 50 pounds.
  • Use of PPE (e.g., safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection) as required by site safety standards.
  • Occasional overtime, night, or weekend work may be required to meet production and maintenance needs.
