Summary

SUMMARY: Under general supervision, performs semi-skilled preventative mechanical maintenance and repair work on equipment in Alameda Health System buildings including fixtures, heating and ventilating equipment, refrigeration and other related equipment. Performs related duties as required.

DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: NOTE: Following are the duties performed by employees in this classification. However, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Not all duties listed are necessarily performed by each individual in the classification.

1. Assists Stationary Engineers, Electricians, or Plumbers in general repairs on conveyor systems, boilers, steam lines, water lines, and plumbing fixtures, refrigeration and air conditioning systems.

2. Changes florescent and incandescent lamps, repairs lighting fixtures for same.

3. Checks and lubricates vacuum pumps and air compressors; lubricates electric motors as needed.

4. Checks refrigeration equipment and performs repair work such as charging Freon, installing new temperature controls and relays; and repairing units.

5. Maintains and repairs large supply and exhaust fans, lubricates and greases fan bearings, changes and adjusts tension on V belts.

6. Maintains and repairs mechanical hospital beds and gurneys.

7. Makes preparation for construction or repair jobs requiring Infection Control containment by erecting and hanging Infection Control containment equipment.

8. Repairs office furniture, Venetian blinds, and various dispensing devices.

9. Under general supervision of Stationary Engineer(s) perform testing, maintenance and repairs of electronic/electric hospital beds.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Experience: 2 years in the class of Building Equipment Maintenance Worker (apprentice)/Utility, or two years of recent, full-time paid experience in the maintenance of electrical and mechanical equipment or Building.

Required Licenses/Certifications: Valid Universal CFC License.

Pay Range $ 57.4583

The pay range for this position reflects the base pay scale for the role at Alameda Health System. Final compensation will be determined based on several factors, including but not limited to a candidates experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, departmental equity, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and the operational needs of the organization.
