The hiring range for this position is $37,029.36 (minimum salary) to $50,972.15 (midpoint of range) dependent upon qualifications for the Parks Maintenance Worker I.
The hiring range for this position is $38,903.97 (minimum salary) to $53,576.68 (midpoint of range) dependent upon qualifications for the Parks Maintenance Worker II.
The hiring range for this position is $40,873.48 (minimum salary) to $56,289.00 (midpoint of range) dependent upon qualifications for the Parks Maintenance Worker III.
The hiring range for this position is $42,942.69 (minimum salary) to $59,138.61 (midpoint of range) dependent upon qualifications for the Parks Maintenance Worker IV.

Parks Maintenance Worker I
Major Duties
- Performs building and grounds maintenance; mows grass, weedeats, paints, and collects trash.
- Performs small engine repair.
- Sets up tables, chairs, and sports equipment as needed.
- Installs playground equipment; installs and repairs chain link fences; repairs tennis courts and paints lines.
- Repairs and maintains sports stadium.
- Operates lawn mowers, tractor, backhoe, front end mower, and bobcat to maintain sports fields and related grounds and facilities; drives dump truck.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

- Performs small engine repair.
- Performs basic fiberglass construction, repair, and maintenance.
- Installs playground equipment; installs and repairs chain link fences; repairs tennis courts and paints lines.
- Repairs pool filtration system and pump motors.
- Fabricates park signs.
- Operates a backhoe, front end loader, bobcat, tractor, and dump truck; operates athletic field machine.
- Repairs and maintains sports stadium.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

- Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of North Carolina for the type of vehicle or equipment operated and a Class B CDL within twelve months of hire.
- CPR/AED/First Aid Certification is required
- No experience requirements.
Knowledge Requirements
- Knowledge of the standards, materials, techniques, and equipment used in the maintenance and repair of parks and recreations buildings and facilities.
- Knowledge of the installation of playground equipment.

Parks Maintenance Worker II
Education/Experience Requirements
- Ability to read, write and perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of North Carolina for the type of vehicle or equipment operated and a Class B CDL within twelve months of hire.
- CPR/AED/First Aid Certification is required
- Pesticide License preferred
- Knowledge of the standards, materials, techniques, and equipment used in the maintenance and repair of parks and recreations buildings and facilities.

- Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of North Carolina for the type of vehicle or equipment operated and a Class B CDL within twelve months of hire.
- CPR/AED/First Aid Certification is required
- Pesticide License, Certified Pool Operator and Certified Reclaimed Water Applicator preferred
- Knowledge of the standards, materials, techniques, and equipment used in the maintenance and repair of parks and recreations buildings and facilities.

Work Environment/Physical Demands
- The work is typically performed outdoors, and occasionally in cold or inclement weather, while intermittently sitting, standing, stooping, or walking.
