The City of Vacaville is accepting applications forMaintenance Worker I/II in the Streets sectionof our Public Works Department.Currently, one (1) vacancy exists for this position. This recruitment will also establish an eligibility list for future vacancies in this classification that may occur over the next 12-month period.

The Maintenance Worker classification is flexibly staffed and may be filled either at the I (entry-level) or II (journey-level), depending on the qualifications of the candidates andthe departmental need. Employees in the Maintenance Worker I classification may advance to the Maintenance Worker II level after meeting higher-level qualifications.

As a Maintenance Worker I/II - Streets, you will work alongside experienced professionals to perform a variety of tasks related to the maintenance and repair of streets and related infrastructure. Responsibilities include pavement preservation, traffic control, sidewalk repair and storm drain maintenance. This position offers the opportunity to develop valuable technical skills, operate a range of equipment and contribute to the safety and functionality of the City's roadways. Additional duties include:

• Concrete forming, pouring and finishing repairs on sidewalks, curbs and driveways
• Completing roadway base failure repairs, shoulder backing and asphalt paving by operating hand tools and heavy machinery
• Evaluating and replacing traffic signs, reflectors, and other measures to ensure safe roadways
• Clearing storm drains, culverts and drainage ditches to prevent flooding
• Responding to emergencies and making related repairs

Salary information:

Maintenance Worker I - Streets: $64,229- $67,440/annually

Maintenance Worker II - Streets: $72,558 - $88,195/annually

Maintenance Worker I/II - Streets positions follow a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Any combination of education and experience that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities is:

Education: Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade.

Experience: One year of experience in construction or maintenance work is required. Experience in general engineering construction such as grading, concrete, paving or underground utilities is desirable. Maintenance Worker II - Streetsrequires one year of experience performing duties of a Maintenance Worker I - Streets for the City of Vacaville (or comparable) or two years of experience in general engineering construction such asgrading, concrete, paving or underground utilities is required.

LICENSE, CERTIFICATE, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Maintenance Worker I - Streets: Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license and a satisfactory driving record are conditions of initial and continued employment. A valid California Class A driver's license with Tank Endorsement must be obtained prior to completion of a 12-month probationary period. Employees are subject to random drug and alcohol testing per DOT regulations.

Maintenance WorkerII - Streets:Possession of a valid CaliforniaClass A driver's license with Tank Endorsement and a satisfactory driving record are conditions of initial and continued employment. Employees are subject to random drug and alcohol testing per DOT regulations.
