Job Description:

AIRFRAME AND POWERPLANT MECHANIC (A&P)

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for mechanical maintenance and repair on commercial aircraft.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Has a high level of system knowledge on at least 2 aircraft types.

Capable of performing engine removal/replacements.

Major flight control removal/reinstall/rig checks.

Major component removal such as Landing Gears, Engines, APU.

Capable of performing ADs/SBs without supervision.

Capable of researching appropriate authorized or approved data as necessary to perform assigned tasks.

Accurately evaluate and disposition N/R's.

Effective system troubleshooter.

Performs complex system operational checks.

Ability to assist as Engineering Liaison.

Ability/willingness to train.

Thorough understanding of engine run up procedures/requirements.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS: Proficient working knowledge of job specifications for Journeyman. Knowledgeable on two aircraft types. Proficient working knowledge of the following skills:

Complex component replacement, powerplant removal/ replacement supervisor, landing gear change main and nose, Aileron rigging, elevator rigging, stabilizer

rigging, nose wheel steering rigging, spoiler rigging, flap rigging, rudder rigging, slat rigging, APU removal/installation, wing/tail engine change procedures, slat/flap control cable change, horizontal stabilizer jackscrew replacement, flight control surface balancing procedure, engine trim procedures, throttle rigging, A/C towing supervisor/tug operator, APU operation, Aileron lockout procedures, trim tab wight & balance, A/C pressurization procedures, cargo/ entry door rigging, troubleshooting hydraulic systems, air condition systems, pneumatic systems, knowledge of all aircraft manuals and related materials, knowledge of all applicable F.A.R. 's and company policies and procedures, knowledge of all paperwork procedures including job cards/ time cards, routine/ non-routine cards, S.R.M.'s, service bulletins, interpret and apply E.O.'s and work sign-off/sell-off procedures.

Job Requirements:

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT:

Requires easy mobility around various sections of aircraft and the dexterity to remove and replace parts in a timely manner.

Requires mental skills and quickness with the ability to cope with stress and intense effort or exertion usually caused by long working hours.

Must have the capacity to gain knowledge by hearing for one's own safety due to the dangers involved.

Working environment requires standing 90 of the workday on hard surfaces.

Must be able to lift 50lbs. and report to work regularly.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: High school diploma or GED required

LANGUAGE: Read, write, speak English

CERTIFICATION: A&P license required

EXPERIENCE: 72 months
