Pay Range: (G27) $26.74 36.86 per hour (depending on experience)

What are the main duties?
Lead advanced maintenance, repair, and improvement work in City facilities on HVAC systems and related building equipment.
Inspect, troubleshoot, adjust, and calibrate HVAC equipment, including computerized controls, chillers, pumps, and supporting components.
Plan and analyze maintenance and repair projects by identifying needs, estimating labor and materials, and recommending practical solutions.
Perform skilled building maintenance work in areas such as electrical, carpentry, painting, masonry, concrete, flooring, locks, and hardware as needed to support facility operations.
Diagnose and repair building systems and devices, including access control, electronic security, lighting controls, and other automated systems.
Review completed work to ensure it meets safety requirements, building codes, operational standards, and project specifications.
Coordinate with contractors, vendors, staff, and building representatives to support quality work, schedule compliance, and minimal disruption to operations.
Lead and support daily field activities by assigning work, mentoring technicians, resolving complex issues, and helping maintain consistent service across facilities.
Maintain accurate records of work performed, time, materials, purchases, and work order completion in accordance with division standards.
Support preventive maintenance programs, tool and equipment upkeep, technician training, and other related duties as needed, including acting in a higher-level role when assigned.
What are the minimum requirements?
High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience performing work in a variety of skilled trades, such as carpentry, plumbing, construction, electrical, HVAC, or related field .
Experience providing technical guidance and support to other technicians in a lead role.
A valid, lawful Driver License.
Forklift certificate within 3 months of hire.
What is the selection process?
Applications will be reviewed in the order they are submitted, with the first screening being held on June 11, 2026. Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications listed above to be eligible for consideration.
If selected for hire, candidate will be required to successfully pass a drug screen and criminal background check. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal. Applicants with unsatisfactory drug screen results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of six (6) months.
