The Mission: "Preservation Over Repair"
At Chick-fil-A, we believe that excellence is found in the details. We are seeking a proactive, detail-oriented Facilities & Maintenance Director who understands that the best repair is the one that never has to happen.
Your mission is to be the "eyes and ears" of the restaurant-identifying potential equipment failures before they disrupt operations and maintaining our facility in "like-new" condition. By executing a rigorous preventive maintenance strategy, you will directly impact the restaurant's profitability by reducing emergency vendor costs and extending the life of our multi-million dollar assets.
Key Responsibilities & Impact Areas:
Proactive Stewardship (Preventive Maintenance)
- The "Early Warning" System: Conduct daily and weekly walkthroughs to identify "micro-issues" (small leaks, unusual equipment noises, or worn gaskets) before they escalate into expensive emergency repairs.
- System Optimization: Execute the Chick-fil-A Equipment and Facilities Maintenance Calendar, including HVAC filter changes, condenser coil cleaning, and ice machine descaling.
- Calibration: Ensure all kitchen technology (fryers, toasters, refrigeration etc) is operating at peak efficiency to reduce energy waste and ensure food safety.
Level 1 Technical Execution (P&L Savings)
- Act as the primary "in-house" technician to eliminate unnecessary vendor trip charges for minor issues.
- Perform basic plumbing (faucet repairs, clearing drains), electrical (ballast/bulb replacement, outlet troubleshooting), and carpentry (tile grout, door hardware).
- Maintain the exterior "Curb Appeal," ensuring our drive-thru and entrance reflect our commitment to excellence.
Asset & Vendor Management
- Warranty Recovery: Track equipment age and serial numbers to ensure we utilize manufacturer warranties before paying for parts.
- Vendor Liaison: When Level 2/3 repairs are required, you will manage the relationship, ensuring external contractors are efficient, tidy, and bill accurately.
- Inventory Control: Maintain a lean stock of high-frequency replacement parts (O-rings, filters, specialized screws) to minimize downtime.
The Ideal Candidate:
- The "Problem Hunter": You don't wait for a "Fix-It" ticket; you find the loose screw or the vibrating motor before the Team Member even notices it.
- Technical Handyman: You have a working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems (prior experience in facilities maintenance or trades is a plus).
- Ownership Mindset: You treat the restaurant's equipment as if it were your own, taking pride in the cleanliness and functionality of every machine.
- Organized & Independent: You can manage your own schedule and prioritize tasks based on their impact on the guest experience and the P&L.
Why Join the Chick-fil-A Team?
- Direct ROI Impact: You aren't just a "repairman"; you are a strategic partner in the business. You will see the direct result of your work in our monthly P&L statements.
- Flexible Morning/Mid-Day Hours: We work with your schedule to ensure maintenance happens during "off-peak" times.
- Culture of Excellence: Work in a professional, respectful environment where your technical skills are highly valued and celebrated.
Working at a Chick-fil-A restaurant is more than a job - it's an opportunity for teamwork and leadership development in a positive, people-focused environment.
