What You’ll Do
  • Set up and operate CNC mills and/or lathes to produce precision components
  • Interpret blueprints and GD&T to ensure tight-tolerance accuracy
  • Load programs, set tool offsets, and fine-tune machining processes
  • Inspect parts using precision measuring tools to maintain quality standards
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and make real-time adjustments

salary: $62,000 - $83,000 per year
shift: First
work hours: 7:30 AM - 5:30 PM

Responsibilities

  • Set up CNC milling and/or lathe machines according to blueprints, job travelers, and setup sheets
  • Install and indicate workholding devices (vises, chucks, collets, fixtures)
  • Load raw material and verify correct alignment and secure clamping
  • Load, verify, and run CNC programs (G-code) from machine controller or network
  • Set tool and work offsets (e.g., G54–G59) and establish part zero
  • Perform first-article inspection to confirm setup accuracy before production runs
  • Monitor machining operations to ensure quality, safety, and efficiency
  • Make minor program edits (feeds, speeds, tool offsets, and compensation adjustments)
  • Inspect parts using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges)
  • Interpret engineering drawings and GD&T specifications to ensure compliance
  • Adjust machine offsets to maintain tight tolerances during production
  • Replace and manage cutting tools based on wear, breakage, or production requirements
  • Maintain coolant levels, lubrication, and general machine cleanliness
  • Troubleshoot basic machine alarms, tool issues, and machining defects
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance tasks on CNC equipment
