Cable Technician II

Pay: $22-$25/hour
Location: Rayville, LA

Overview

We are seeking a skilled Cable Technician II to support structured cabling installations across commercial and industrial environments. This role involves installing, terminating, testing, and troubleshooting low-voltage cabling systems while assisting with team coordination and project execution.

Key Responsibilities

• Install and terminate CAT3, CAT5, and CAT6 cabling for voice and data systems
• Mount faceplates, surface mount boxes, and modular/floor outlets
• Build and outfit telecom closets, including:
  • Backboards, racks, patch panels, and cross-connects
  • Fiber optic hardware installations
• Perform IDC terminations (110/66 blocks and patch panels)
• Conduct cable testing and troubleshooting:
  • Continuity testing (horizontal & riser cable)
  • Identify and resolve opens, shorts, crossed and transposed pairs
  • Use testing tools such as volt-ohm meters and tone generators
• Identify active voice and data circuits
• Assist with crew leadership:
  • Support training of junior technicians
  • Coordinate daily work and help drive project timelines
• Maintain accurate documentation:
  • Timesheets, work orders, material tracking, and change orders
• Follow all safety, quality, and company standards on job sites
• Travel as needed within the regional territory

Requirements

• Experience with structured cabling installations in commercial environments
• Proficiency in:
  • Cable pulling and termination
  • Punch-downs and testing
• Ability to read prints, troubleshoot issues, and work independently
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills

Preferred Experience

• Data center or IT infrastructure environments
• Semiconductor (fab) or industrial project experience
• Basic IT support knowledge

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work at heights, on ladders, and in confined spaces
• Lift up to 50 lbs; move up to 75 lbs
• Ability to distinguish cable colors and read small print
• Comfortable with frequent standing, bending, and manual work

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.
