Description

SCOPE:

Perform functions to analyze malfunctions and repairs, rebuilds and maintains equipment, such as tractors, slope mowers, batwing mowers, power shovels, scrapers, pumps, compressors and pneumatic tools and any range of grounds maintenance equipment; and contribute to the mission of Goodwill by maximizing the opportunities for participants with disabilities and other barriers to become more independent.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Operates and inspects machines or equipment to diagnose defects, dismantles and reassembles equipment, using hoists and hand tools, examines parts for damage or excessive wear, using micrometers and gauges, replaces defective engines and subassemblies, such as transmissions, and tests overhauled equipment to insure operating efficiency.

  2. Develops and maintains preventative maintenance program and records.

  3. Maintains inventory of equipment.

  4. Promptly responds to emergency maintenance requests from the field.

  5. Welds broken parts and structural members, may direct workers engaged in cleaning parts and assisting with assembly and disassembly of equipment.

  6. Provide training of daily maintenance and safety of all equipment.

  7. Ensure actions and words communicate superior internal and external customers service.

  8. Perform or assist with any assignments as required or directed.

OTHER DUTIES MAY INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  1. Demonstrate by words and actions a commitment to the Goodwill mission to help people with disabilities and other barriers to become self-sufficient, working members of the community.

  2. Attend and participate in a variety of meetings and task force groups as directed and maintain required level of knowledge pertaining to operating procedures, requirements, processes, and policies.

  3. Follow safety rules, ensure safe operating conditions are followed within area of responsibility, wear required personal protective equipment and clothing, and keep work area in clean and orderly condition.

Requirements

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

  2. Valid State of Florida CDL (Class B or higher).

  3. 1+ years relevant experience.

  4. Working knowledge of vehicle safety and control systems.

  5. Ability to perform heavy lifting.

  6. Vocational training program in the area of automotive or heavy equipment mechanics preferred.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED:

Use tractors, bat-wing mower, slope mower, mechanical tools and equipment, pumps, compressors and pneumatic tools, company vehicle and various grounds maintenance equipment.
