Sedan Public Schools (USD 286) is seeking a qualified candidate to serve as Director of Maintenance .
This position is responsible for overseeing the daily operation, maintenance, and safety compliance of all district facilities and grounds. The Director of Maintenance supervises custodial staff, ensures building systems are functioning properly, manages preventative maintenance, coordinates facility projects, and works with vendors to maintain safe and efficient school environments.
Responsibilities include maintaining required state and safety compliance reports (such as fire safety inspections, asbestos management documentation, boiler inspections, and other facility safety requirements), supervising custodial staff and scheduling duties, managing maintenance supplies and equipment, coordinating repairs and facility improvements, and responding to facility needs as they arise.
This position works closely with district administration to ensure all school facilities are well-maintained, safe, and operational for students, staff, and community activities.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience in building maintenance, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or facility operations is preferred. Supervisory experience and relevant certifications or licenses are beneficial.

USD 286 in Sedan is located in Southeast Kansas at the junctions of US Highway 166 and 99. Sedan is a picturesque community located equidistant from Tulsa, OK, Wichita, KS and Joplin, MO, in the heart of the Chautauqua Hills.
